An engineering masterpiece from the
1940's. The air cooled V-twin was reliable and fast. |
 |
BMW R90S
BMW shocked the world with a flashy
paint scheme and a bikini fairing that housed a clock and
voltmeter. The 900cc opposed twin pumps out 67 BHP via a five
speed gearbox and shaft drive. |

Triumph
Trident T160
Taking the sloping engine shape from
the BSA Rocket-3, this was to be the last Meriden triple.
This American spec version had left foot change, 5 speed
gearbox and an electric start. Although it produced 58 BHP,
it wasn't enough to match the
dominance of the big Japanese rice burners. |
 |
Laverda Jota
The ultimate Italian muscle bike.
Derived from the 1000cc 3C, this tuned triple gave a genuine
140 MPH. |

Honda GL1000
Goldwing
Appearing in the mid 1970's, this
was an awesome piece of Japanese engineering. An opposed 4
cylinder water cooled engine, mated to a 5 speed gearbox and
shaft drive. This produced about 80 BHP and gave a top
speed of over 120 MPH. |
