In August 2006 I bought a second hand R1150GS. I needed a second bike and at the time, this was a complete contrast to the CB1300S I had, and the Triumph 1200 Daytona I was getting rid of.
The bike was six years old and had covered 29000 miles. It was in average condition, but was showing the usual signs of corrosion. Still, it looked good and I fancied an "adventure tourer".
Although not fast, on the road it is quick. It's quirky and very involving to ride, delivering loads of torque with deceptively good handling. Although not as fast, smooth or civilised as the R1200GS, it's a more rewarding ride.
